Work With Us

A global company with dedicated staff who strive to be the best in their field

Have you considered a career in insurance? It’s not only for those with underwriting experience or actuarial qualifications - you’d be surprised at the broad spectrum of skills, abilities and qualifications that are valuable in the insurance world.

At Liberty Specialty Markets, we are always on the lookout for quality people with a legal, engineering, business, finance, environment, or construction background; people who understand sales and marketing, know how to build and maintain relationships with clients, and have an instinct for delivering excellent client service.

We are unusual in having a high staff retention rate: people join us, and they stay. But that doesn’t mean they get stuck. There are many career and personal development opportunities to take advantage of while working with Liberty, including opportunities for promotion, lateral movement, transfers and travel. It’s a bit like a large family firm, and the professional and social bonds that you create are genuine.

Liberty opened in Sydney in 1999, and today employs more than 350 staff in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, as well as Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Our combined turnover (gross written premiums) exceeds US$400 million annually.

The benefits of working for a global organisation like Liberty are significant. If you think you have what it takes to work hard, strive to be the best and be a part of Liberty’s exciting future, we urge you to apply now for one of our current vacancies.

At Liberty, we take a long-term view, and part of that is building real relationships, both internally, with colleagues, and externally, with our clients and brokers. A culture of teamwork underpins everything we do at Liberty.

Liberty’s leadership team has the stability, experience and foresight to steer us through the ups and downs of the financial cycle, while empowering staff to focus on market relevance and delivering quality customer service.

Experience and stability – it’s what draws us together, and what sets us apart. Our parent company, Liberty Mutual, has been helping people live safer, more secure lives for over a century, and Liberty Specialty Markets is proud to be a part of that tradition.

Our nominated charities align themselves with this philosophy and all Liberty employees are actively encouraged to ‘do their bit’ for these and other charities. All staff receive one day of paid leave per year to allow them to give back to the community.
