Liberty committed to the Asia Pacific Casualty Market

We’ve recently been asked if Liberty Specialty Markets is making changes to our Casualty underwriting appetite in Asia Pacific. Locally our Casualty underwriting appetite remains unchanged and we’re keen to continue the recent growth in our Casualty portfolios in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.

Those who had primary international Casualty business placed through Liberty’s London international team will be aware that they are refocusing on their own local market, and will no longer be writing primary international casualty business in the Asia Pacific region. The book they had been writing in this region was predominately in exposures that have consistently been outside of our appetite. The decision does not affect London’s international placements through their Specialty Binders, Commercial High Excess and Multinational portfolios.

Our local Casualty value proposition remains unchanged – we are always looking to partner with companies that demonstrate an active focus on risk management and seek a long-term insurance partner. With our integrated team of Risk Engineers and Claims Specialists we seek to form enduring and stable insurance programs that you and your clients can rely on.

Casualty has and continues to be core to our market proposition in Asia Pacific. It’s one of the reasons Australian insurance brokers voted Liberty the 2021 NIBA General Insurer of the Year.
